Philippines
Consisting of many small islands, the Philippines are especially vulnerable to climate change. Not only the temperature but also the frequency of hot days and warm nights increases significantly. Rainfall varies between regions and seasons, but trends show that the wetter season will become wetter and the drier will become drier, also caused by an increase in El-Niño induced droughts. The agricultural sector suffers from yield losses, constraints in productivity and outbreaks and spread of diseases in crops and animals. Temperature increase affects the survival of plants/animals and leads to biodiversity loss. The coastal zones are especially vulnerable because sea level rise causes an increased risk of flooding, storm damages, land loss and saltwater intrusion.
