Haiti

Haiti shares an island with the Dominican Republic and is located east of Cuba in the Caribbean Sea. With its horseshoe shape, the country has a pronounced and long coastline, but is also the most mountainous country in the Caribbean. Periodic floods, droughts and hurricanes characterize the environmental conditions of Haiti and make it highly vulnerable to climate change. The country is also suffering from sea level rise as well as decreasing groundwater resulting in a decline of the availability of drinking water. The intensification of extreme weather events will decrease agricultural yields and negatively affect the livelihoods of the majority of the population.
